This is because, in order to get a clean UI, it has removed the ability to view and change the volume level directly from the lock screen. While this still makes sense up to an extent, it calls for an unnecessary effort if you are just willing to check the current volume level. Talking about unnecessary effort, you will now have to drag down the control center to know my current volume which in turn would require you to unlock the device. What is even more confusing is the fact that the option to change the volume from the lock screen would re-appear if you are using AirPlay. So removing the option for one domain whereas keeping it enabled for the other just really adds up. The only optimism left is the fact that the build is currently in the beta stage, so if you are one of the testers, we would recommend you to make your voices heard and make Apple bring back this much-needed feature, which shouldn’t have been replaced in the first place!
